PROMPTS
- In Kate Chopin’s, “The Story of an Hour,” discuss what do you believe is Mrs. Mallard’s quest.
- Discuss the archetypes (rather situational), patterns, and individuality in the short story.
- “The Story of an Hour” contains many examples of irony, focus on those three different types of irony and explain how the author, Kate Chopin, utilize the use of irony in this short story
- Discuss the figurative language used within the text. You can discuss symbolism, character, and point of view. You can also discuss the use of mythology (Greek Goddess, Victory (also known as Nike)).
- The setting of the story is limited. How does this affect the overall theme of the story? Why does the author mention “heart trouble” in the beginning?
